The world is moving forward when we are sleeping, eating, resting, or procrastinating. Self-improvement is very necessary if you want to compete with the rest of the world.
If you are outdated, then sooner or later, you will get run down by others.
So, let’s see those 5 five things which you can do now to improve yourself:
1. Ask Questions that make you uncomfortable:
I always liked asking some difficult questions to myself which nobody asks or they are too afraid to ask.
Questions like: Why am I doing this job or business? Is it only because of money? Am I really providing the much-needed value to society? Am I happy? Or am I just pretending to be happy?
Let me ask you a question: when was the last time you asked why are you doing your job or business?
And if you asked it many times, then how much time did you gave it to get the much-needed answers?
1 day or 2 days or 1 week or 1 month? How long have you stayed with that question?
I know. Most of us never think too much about these types of questions because either we are too afraid of the answers or we just don’t care.
Some of you may even get anxiety when you ask questions like this. Right?
But let me tell you one thing when you will find those answers, you will change. You will improve. I don’t think there is a better way than this to improve yourself.
2. Learn new skills or improve the current ones:
When you got your first job, you may have seen many people from big or small companies who are outdated and only care about the experience. And you are all new as a fresher with the knowledge of all the new technologies. Right?
This is a big problem. Experience is good, but it isn’t everything. Like I am also learning programming (for more than 2 years) and I know how technology changes every day.
To compete with others, we have to keep learning all those new technologies.
That’s why you should improve daily. There is always something new to learn. You just need to look.
When you are always updated and have a good experience then you are already way ahead of your competitors.
And you are more future proof. Because who doesn’t want a person who knows all the new things + has a good experience.
The demand is high. So you know what to do.
3. Try Minimalism:
If you still haven’t tried Minimalism, then you should Now. It shows how much little you need to live. And once you will learn that, you will change from within.
You will be a person who is now chasing the cause, and not all the Glitter. I have already written an article stating reasons why you should be minimalist.
You can read that from here : 5 Convincing reasons to live a Minimalist Life.
Also, Sometime people confuse Minimalism with “Reducing your needs”. It’s not that.
It is about “Understanding your real needs”. And the below quote suits this best:
4. Do something you enjoy:
We all have something that we love other than our work. You may like football, cricket, video games, or watching T.V. series, etc.
But because of less time, we ignore them. Yes?
Well, there comes some situations when you just have to work without thinking about anything, but whenever you get time, do what you want to do.
And don’t be guilty about it because what are we without some entertainment in our lives?
I also like to play video games but my laptop kinda goes crazy with all those high-end games. So I kinda avoid them.
But How can all those things improve you?
Well, they improve you from within. Happiness is kinda lost nowadays. With everyone working more and more, counting hours and weeks, we are neglecting ourselves.
5. Read books:
I know you have read it many times. But what can I do? This is a very popular and important one for self-improvement.
And yet we ignore this.
I never read many books because of less time (excuse) but I know that books are no less than a person telling about his/her experience.
And what kind of book isn’t available in the market? You name it. If you want to learn about business, programming, sports, wildlife, or whatever, every kind of book is available in the market.
And if you have some free time then it is cherry on the cake.
Set a goal like “I am going to read 10 books this year” and pick the book which suites you best.
But what if you don’t like to read?
Well, then this quote is for you:
6. Try to Socialize:
Introverts are easy to find nowadays. You may be an introvert as well. If you ask me then I am neither an introvert nor an extrovert.
But socializing is important. Many studies have found that socializing improves overall mood and relaxes the mind.
Now you will say that “Elon musk was an introvert and now he is a billionaire”. Right?
But you are only seeing the half picture. He ‘was’ an introvert. And now he is not. But why?
Because you can’t run a company by being an Introvert. You have to connect with your team, with multiple peoples, talk to multiple investors, etc.
Socializing is good for your brain but it is good for your pocket too.
But no need to believe me. I am not a billionaire. But you can believe Warren Buffett. He said:
7. Stop watching too much television news:
Read articles instead.
8. Never trade your health over hours:
Don’t get obsessed with your working hours. Stop copying Elon Musk or anyone.
Everyone is different. If you are sacrificing your health for your work then in the future, you won’t be able to work for even 5 hours, forget about 15 or 18 hours.
Be aware of what you eat and how you spend your day.
Because there is one thing you can’t buy with money if gone – Your health.
So let’s end this article here.
The points above were not that unique but, you know, it isn’t about some big changes, it is about the small ones.
